Vaugh, Henderson, Swan Qualify for 2020 Dustin Johnson World Junior

Keegan Vaugh (71) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Thomas Henderson (72) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lydia Swan (77) of North East, Pa. each earned qualifying spots Saturday for one of junior golf’s elite competitions: the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship set for Feb. 28 – March 1, 2020 at TPC Myrtle Beach.

Vaugh, who recently signed to play collegiate golf at Charleston Southern University, was the only competitor in the qualifier to break par Saturday, as TPC Myrtle Beach presented a stern test for the 78 players in the field. Henderson, a junior out of Cincinnati’s Archbishop Moeller, was impressive in an even-par performance that earned him the boys division’s second qualifying nod.

Swan qualified for the girls’ competition after emerging victorious in a two-hole playoff over Kiera Bartholomew of Westampton, N.J. Swan is no stranger to extra-hole playoff pressure, having just won the 2019 PIAA Class 2A State Championship in October in a one-hole playoff.

Vaugh, Henderson and Swan round out the 2020 field of 90 elite junior golfers vying for their chance at World Junior glory. Boys 2018 champion Michael Brennan and reigning two-time girls winner Alexa Pano lead their respective fields into this year’s competition at the renowned Tom Fazio/Lanny Wadkins design at TPC Myrtle Beach.
