Jackson Herrington, Vanessa Borovilos Take Leads into Final Round of Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship

The stage is set for a dramatic final round at the ninth annual Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship Presented by LA Golf at TPC Myrtle Beach, with Jackson Herrington (Dickson, Tenn.) and Vanessa Borovilos (Toronto, Canada) looking to close out victories in one of America’s premier junior tournaments.

[Second Round Leaderboard: Boys; Girls]

Herrington shot a 3-under par 69 Saturday, pushing him to 4-under for the event, just ahead of second place Sterling Hurd (Austin, Texas). After beginning the day with a bogey, Herrington played an outstanding round, highlighted by four birdies during a crucial six-hole stretch to open the back nine.

He will need to be equally sharp on Sunday with one of the strongest fields in junior golf in pursuit. In addition to Hurd, Mason Howell (Thomasville, Ga.) is just two shots back at 2-under par, while the quartet of John Daniel Culbreth (Thomasville, Ga.), Ethan Paschal (Fayetteville, N.C.), Logan Reilly (Lovettsville, Va.) and Chase Kyes are tied for fourth, only three behind.

Blades Brown, the No. 1 ranked junior boy in America, and Tyler Watts, the nation’s No. 2 junior according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, each shot 69 Saturday, battling back to even par for the tournament and leaving both within striking distance going into the final round.

Borovilos will carry a three-shot cushion into the final round after shooting a 71 Saturday, leaving her at 3-under for the weekend.

Defending champion Ryleigh Knaub (DeBary, Fla.) and Brynn Kort (Henderson, Nev.) are tied for second and within striking distance at even par. Amelie Zalsman (Saint Petersburg, Fla.) trails by four at 1-over par.

Final round play begins at 8 a.m. Sunday morning at TPC Myrtle Beach. Admission is free.
